Tom Odell worried about breaking finger

Tom Odell almost broke a finger making the video to his latest track, ‘Hold Me’, from his debut album, ‘Long Way Down’.

Tom Odell almost broke a finger making his latest video.

The singer was filming the video of his latest single ‘Hold Me’ when the accident occurred, which he worried could affect his piano playing.

Speaking to Absolute Radio, he said: "That video was a bit mad. It was this really long shoot and the next day I woke up and I was just covered in bruises. I thought I’d broken my finger."

The video shoot took place at iconic Abbey Road studios, and a live audience were included as part of the film.

Tom explained how interacting with the crowd was what got him into trouble: "I was doing this bit where I run through the crowd and they all start sort of moshing and one of them was just getting really excited and he grabbed my finger and twisted it – I don’t know why. I was terrified that I’d broken it".

Thankfully no lasting damage was done, and Tom has continued to record and perform since.

Tom also said he felt lucky to record at Abbey Road, as it is a location graced by many of his musical heroes during their careers.

He added: "I did some strings here for my album which I didn’t use, but we did it in room 2 and that’s where The Beatles recorded every single Beatles album. For me, when I first came to Abbey Road and I went to room 2, I think it was the best day of my life."

‘Hold Me’ from Tom’s debut album, ‘Long Way Down’, is out on April 15.
