Collette has played a mother several times on the big screen, most notably in the dysfunctional family of the dramatic comedy Little Miss Sunshine, but now she is a mother for real.
The 35-year-old star gave birth on Wednesday (January 9) in Sydney, Australia. The baby is the first child for Collette and her husband, musician Dave Galafassi. A spokesperson for the couple told People magazine, "All are well and very happy!"
The actress was thrilled when she announced her pregnancy last July, when she told the Associated Press, "It is strange, the last three films I’ve done I have been pregnant." Colette added, "I’m just like, what is the universe trying to tell me? But I think everything happens when it’s meant to."
