Tony Bennett’s first #1 album at age 85

Duets II by jazz crooner tops Billboard chart.

All things come to those who wait – a proverb that is quite fitting for singer Tony Bennett this week after launching his new album Duets II last Tuesday, September 20.

The artist landed his first number one album on Billboard 200 with his album beating out Lady Antebellum, Demi Lovato, and Lil Wayne.

For Bennett, the 59-year wait since his debut album Because of You in 1952, is finally over.

The 85-year-old crooner may be in first place because of Amy Winehouse, who’s Body and Soul duet with Bennett was the last recording she made before her untimely death at the age of 27 on July 23.

In addition to Winehouse, Bennett also relies on a host of renowned collaborators for Duets II, including Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, kd Lang, John Mayer, Michael Bublé and Aretha Franklin, to name a few.
