Tony Scott To Make Chippendales Flick

Tony Scott will be directing a film about the creator of Chippendales.

The director, who brought us The Taking of Pelham 123, will be behind the camera for a film about Steve Banerjee, the founder of Chippendales, reports Variety.

The film will recount Banerjee’s rise and fall.  The once-gas station attendant went on to become a club owner, and later created the Chippendales troupe.  Having hired a choreographer, he became immensely wealthy with the Chippendales, but also very competitive and paranoid.  When negotiations with the choreographer became heated, Banerjee hired a hitman to kill him.  While awaiting trial, Banerjee died behind bars.

Scott will be producing the film through his company, Scott Free, with David Permut of Permut Presentations and Firoz Nadiadwala.

Tony Scott is currently filming Unstoppable with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine.  The film hits theatres on November 12, 2010.
