Last night, there were only three games in the NHL, including the Canadiens.
Here are the results and highlights:
The @NYRangers (16-4-1, 33 points) rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Red Wings (11-7-3, 25 points) and claimed first place in the League standings, leapfrogging the idle Golden Knights (14-5-4, 32 points).#NHLStats: https://t.co/gaN3xYhfvo pic.twitter.com/pFlkyHccNn

1. Charlie Lindgren shines in Los Angeles win
When they say it takes longer to develop a goalie, Charlie Lindgren is the perfect example.
In Montreal, it was harder for him, but when he arrived in Washington, everything changed. So far this season, in seven games, he’s posted a .934 save percentage and a 2.30 goals-against average.
Yesterday, he was smoking again. He turned aside 38 of 39 shots. The Capitals won 2-1 in Los Angeles.
Charlie Lindgren stopped 38 of 39 shots to help the @Capitals improve to 7-3-1 in November. Only the Rangers (9-2-1) and Panthers (9-4-1) have more wins this month among Eastern Conference clubs.#NHLStats: https://t.co/gaN3xYgHFQ pic.twitter.com/KDlEAkznY8

The hosts thought they’d tied it, but on the sequence, we see that Anze Kopitar was offside.
No goal, then.
NO GOAL! 🙅♂️

2. Rangers on top of the world
The other game not involving the Canadiens pitted the Rangers, the NHL’s top team, against the Red Wings.
Logic prevailed and New York won 3-2, even though Detroit, without Patrick Kane, scored two quick goals.
Two quick goals in 23 seconds has the @DetroitRedWings ahead! 🚨🚨#NHLStats: https://t.co/T2sOt6NEtE

The Rangers tied the game through K’Andre Miller and Jimmy Vesey scored the winning goal afterwards, with less than five minutes left in the game.
Another goal on the fly. Can the players wait for the ball season to start?

New York has a 16-4-1 record in 2023-2024 and with yesterday’s win, the club has overtaken the Golden Knights in the overall standings.
Extension
– Artemi Panarin likes to play at home.
Artemi Panarin scored and extended his season-opening home point streak to nine games, the longest by a @NYRangers player since 1996-97.
