Top-2: Jack Hughes injured in Devils defeat

Last night in the National Hockey League, there were only two games on the schedule.

Here are the highlights.

1. Jack Hughes injured in Devils’ 4-1 loss to Blues

Since the start of the season, Jack Hughes has been by far the best player in the entire league.

He’s simply dominated game after game with the New Jersey Devils, racking up points in impressive fashion.

So far, he sits atop the NHL scoring charts with 20 points, including five goals, in 10 games.

With such a strong start to the season, we’re all wondering how far Hughes will get by the end of the season, and whether he’ll be able to keep up the pace.

On the other hand, in horrible news last night, Jack Hughes was injured against the St. Louis Blues after falling heavily against the boards midway through the first period.

The Devils star looked unwell and had to leave the game.

Hughes never returned. His case will be re-evaluated daily to determine whether or not his injury is serious, as Elliotte Friedman announced last night.

Of course, we all hope it’s more fear than harm in his case.

Anyway, despite the bad news, the field hockey game was won by the St. Louis Blues, 4-1.

Kevin Hayes scored his first two goals for the Blues.

2. Flyers make short work of Sabres

Expectations are pretty high this season for the Buffalo Sabres, as the team is well-built and finally looks ready to take its game to the next level – the playoffs.

However, the Sabres aren’t off to the expected start to the season, and that continued last night with a loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers scored two quick goals early in the game and never looked back.

Note that former Laval Rocket Louie Belpedio scored his first NHL goal at the age of 27.

In short, a great win for the Flyers that gives the Sabres a disappointing 5-6-0 record.
