Top-4: A first NHL goal for Logan Cooley

Last night in the NHL, only eight teams were in action.

Here are the highlights:

1. Logan Cooley breaks the ice

In his ninth NHL game, Logan Cooley finally scored his first goal on the Bettman circuit.

Prior to this game, he had collected six assists. And with this goal, he’s now at the top of the rookie scoring charts.

But his goal wasn’t enough. Arizona, who host the CH tonight, lost in overtime 4-3 to the Ducks.

Troy Terry played the game of his life. Not only did he score a hat trick, but he finished the game with the winning goal and an assist. He was THE player to dress in your pool yesterday.

2. First goal in his first game for Connor Zary

Last night, a promising Flames prospect was playing his first game on the Bettman circuit.

Drafted in the first round of the 2020 draft, Connor Zary made the traditional solo lap of the ice before the game.

It didn’t take long for the 22-year-old Canadian to make an impression.

He scored a goal in his very first game.

But it wasn’t enough to help his team win the game. The Stars won by a score of 4-3.

Jamie Benn and Roope Hintz led the charge for the visitors with two points each. Goalie Jake Oettinger won his fifth game of the season and remains undefeated on the regular season in 2023-2024.

3. Travis Sanheim is fourth in the league in scoring among defensemen

If I told you that after ten games, Travis Sanheim would be the NHL’s fourth-highest scoring defenseman, would you have believed me?

Well, that’s exactly the case.

Yesterday, in his club’s 5-2 loss to Buffalo, the defenseman picked up two assists. He now has 10 points in as many games. Only Adam Fox (11), Cale Makar (11) and Quinn Hughes (11) have more points than him.

Another defenseman in the game who stood out was Owen Power. The former Sabres first choice scored with an excellent shot.

Moments earlier, Brandon Biro broke the tie.

It was his first NHL goal.

The Stars would never have won the game had it not been for Esa Lindell’s spectacular save.

4. 900th home win for the Avalanche

The Avalanche made short work of the St. Louis Blues last night. The home team won 4-1.

It was the franchise’s 900th home victory.

In the win, Bowen Byram was playing the 100th game of his big league career, and he got himself a nice goal.

Nathan Mackinnon, who finished the game with two assists, earned an assist on the sequence.

Colorado’s goaltender of choice was Ivan Prosvetov. He stopped 27 of 28 shots en route to his first victory in an Avs uniform.

Jonathan Drouin did not play. He was left out as expected. The same goes for Tomas Tatar and Caleb Jones.
