1. Already a 30th point for Quinn Hughes
The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL’s best offense, faced the worst team last night, the Sharks.
In the end, Vancouver won the game 3-1, thanks in particular to their captain, who collected two points.

However, the victory was marred by a dangerous play by Nils Hoglander. The forward attempted to injure an opposing player.

2. Connor McDavid shines, but the Oilers lose
The Oilers were in Florida yesterday to take on the Panthers. Goaltender Cal Pickard was making his first start with the Oilers.
He didn’t fare too well, allowing four goals on 31 shots.
Edmonton lost the game 5-3, despite Connor McDavid’s brilliance.
The captain first imitated Leon Draisaitl with a goal that only the German knows the secret of.

Then, 97 added to his tally with a penalty shot.

3. Kings still unbeaten abroad
NHL teams are rarely this dominant on opposing rinks, but the Kings are.
Yesterday, the team beat the Coyotes in Arizona 4-1 and now has an 8-0-0 record on the road.

4. Two late goals propel Preds to victory
With 38 seconds left in the game between the Avalanche and Predators, Colorado was leading by a goal and heading for victory.
But the host team had other plans.
They scored two goals to not only tie, but win the game.

First, Filip Forsberg scored his ninth goal of the season.
And 16 seconds later, former Olympian Yakov Trenin scored his second of the season.
Nashville thus ended the Avalanche’s three-game winning streak.

5. Steven Stamkos ties the score with less than five seconds left in the game
Another team on course for a late-game victory fell apart: the Bruins.
With less than five seconds left in the game, Boston had a one-goal lead, but Steven Stamkos was left alone in the slot.
Bad idea: the Lightning captain sent everyone into overtime.

And in overtime, Brandon Hagel didn’t take long to foil Jeremy Swayman.

On the losing side, Charlie McAvoy picked up an assist to extend his streak of games with at least one point to seven.
Not only is he a good offensive defenseman, but he can also hit.
