After a completely crazy day for the National Hockey League trade deadline, it was back to normal in the evening, with six games on the schedule.

So, 12 teams were in action after this big day.

Here’s a summary of the day.

1. The Wings lose and the Habs move up in the standings

Good news for Montreal Canadiens fans, even if they didn’t do anything yesterday and didn’t play, they moved up in the standings.

In fact, the Habs climbed one spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race thanks to the Detroit Red Wings’ 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals.

Havings played one more game with the same number of points as the Habs, the Red Wings now have a lower points percentage than the Habs.

So, the Habs got closer to a playoff spot yesterday, without doing anything at all.

It’s good news, and the Habs can thank Aliaksei Protas.

Protas is really having a season, with 54 points (25 goals and 29 assists) in 63 games this season, doubling his career production.

The 24-year-old Belarusian has doubled his career production this season.

2. Elias Pettersson scores his first goal in 16 games

As everyone knows, Elias Pettersson is having a horrible season with the Vancouver Canucks, not producing at all.

Well, last night, in an important 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild, Elias Pettersson scored a goal to open the scoring.

It’s his first goal in 16 games, and it’s also the first time he’s found the back of the net since J.T. Miller was traded on January 31.

It was really time for Pettersson to score a goal, and it’s great that he did it in such an important game.

With this win, the Canucks took back the last playoff spot, one point ahead of the Calgary Flames.

3. Connor Bedard scores his first goal in nine games

Connor Bedard is another player who’s been struggling to find the back of the net lately.

Well, fortunately, Bedard finally scored a goal in nine games last night, scoring the winning goal for the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime in a 4-3 win over the Utah Hockey Club.

This goal will do Bedard some good, as he’s having a disappointing season with 51 points, including 17 goals, in 63 games.

He had 61 points in 68 games in his rookie season.

Notably, the Blackhawks’ win was thanks to Spencer Knight, who stopped 36 of 39 shots to earn his second win in as many games with Chicago.

4. The Devils suffer their third consecutive loss

Since Christmas, it’s been really tough for the New Jersey Devils, who had a great start to the season.

The Devils are struggling, especially since Jack Hughes got injured and will miss the rest of the season and the playoffs.

Wins are becoming increasingly rare, and the teams behind them in the standings are quietly catching up.

Last night, the Devils suffered their third consecutive loss and fifth loss in their last seven games, since the resumption of activities after the Four Nations Confrontation.

They were demolished 6-1 at home by the Winnipeg Jets, despite Jacob Markstrom being in goal.

5. The Blues get within one point of a playoff spot

The playoff race is also exciting in the Western Conference, with the Blues joining the Canucks and Flames in the battle for a playoff spot.

They’re now just one point away from a playoff spot thanks to their 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks last night.
