Toronto’s Luminato Festival of Arts and Creativity

One of the world’s biggest arts festivals gets underway on June 10.

One of the world’s largest and most varied arts festivals, Luminato kicks off in Toronto on June 10, offering 10 days of concerts, art, readings, talks, dance and more, reports Canada.com.

"We cover probably the broadest range of arts of any multi-arts festival in the world," said festival founder Janice Price. "We include all the traditional performing arts of theatre, music, dance, operas, and also film, literature, outdoor events, visual arts. It’s just a wide-ranging cornucopia."

The National Ballet of Canada will perform a new adaptation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. For food-lovers, the closing weekend will bring together some of the city’s best chefs for the 1,000 Tastes of Toronto event.

Best-selling Canadian author Malcolm Gladwell (The Tipping Point) will give a talk, while other authors, including Joyce Carol Oates, Ann Patchett, Geraldine Brooks and Jeannette Winterson will be on hand to read from their newest books

Many of the events taking place around the city are free – including a closing day concert by k.d. lang. For ticketed events, the festival has a special offer available until June 6, where visitors going to three or more events can get tickets to each event for only $39 each.
