Tourism trends for 2011

Lonely Planet guide book names travel destination trends for 2011.

One would think that France is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, but according to the Lonely Planet guide book of 2011 travel trends, it doesn’t make the top ten.

According to a ranking prepared by the travel guide, the three countries most likely welcome tourists in the coming year are Albania, Cape Verde and Brazil.

These choices clearly show that people are increasingly willing to travel to places where civilization has not yet caught up to modern times and wilderness is still largely intact.

Although the top ten include some well-known destinations such as Italy or Japan, it also reveals more countries—like Vanuatu and Tanzania—where tourism is just beginning to establish itself.

Top ten 2011 travel trends:

1.   Albania
2.   Brazil
3.   Cape Verde
4.   Panama
5.   Bulgaria
6.   Vanuatu
7.   Italy
8.   Tanzania
9.   Syria
10. Japan
