Trailer now online for Green Day’s new live recording

Recording of band’s 21st Century Breakdown World Tour due in March.

Yesterday (January 11), a new online video promoting Green Day’s 21st Century Breakdown World Tour live album was released.

Titled Awesome as F**k, the live CD/DVD package is due to be released on March 15 and is already available for pre-order.

The trailer appears to confirm rumours that the recording will contain footage from the two Japan shows of the tour, judging from shots of the crowd and the exclamation of "Tokyo!" at the end.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is currently a regular in the Broadway production American Idiot, based off of Green Day’s 2004 concept album of the same name.

Speaking to the New York Times, Armstrong revealed that he may be interested in someday creating his own musical.

"I think I’d be interested in the future of really getting into writing specifically for a show, that’s something I’d really love to do. The kind of music that I like is very immediate and very catchy, and you identify with it quickly, and I try to write that way. And in musical theatre it’s the same thing – you identify with the songs immediately, the good ones anyway," he said.
