Transformers 3 without Megan Fox

Megan Fox is out of the third movie in the Transformers franchise.

Variety reports that Megan Fox will not be returning for Transformers 3 because the studio decided not to renew her contract.

Sources say that the decision has nothing to do with the fact that Fox compared director Michael Bay to Hitler in an interview last fall.

The studio and Bay say they want to move the story in another direction with a new love interest for the character of Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf.

However a rep for Fox told People magazine: "It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best."

The hunt is already on to find a replacement. Rumour has it that actress Gemma Arterton is at the head of the line to fill the role. Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Kevin Dunn and Julie White also signed on to appear in the film.

Filming begins this summer and it is scheduled for release on July 1, 2011.

Moving on, Megan Fox stars with Josh Brolin in Jonah Hex coming to theatres on June 18.
