Quebec hosts international medieval festival over Labor Day weekend.

This holiday weekend, take a trip back in time to the middle ages in Lachute, Quebec – only 35 km northwest of Montreal – as the Médiévales Internationales de Lachute (Lachute International Medieval festival) kicks off on September 3.

The French festival will include a jousting event – Tournoi International du Lys d’Argent – in collaboration with the World Joust Tournaments, as well as four tournaments between competing teams from the U.S., the U.K., Germany and Holland. These teams will take part in skill competitions such as sword fighting and archery.

Visitors can also wander through the recreated medieval village. Be sure to check out the shops and camps set up in traditional style of the middle ages. Plenty of entertainment will be on hand, including music, dance and horse shows.

The event starts on Saturday, September 3 and runs until Monday, September 5. Admission costs $10 for a one-day pass or $25 for all three days. Children under two are admitted free.
