Trial Date Set for Boy George

Singer Boy George will be in court faces charges of falsely imprisoning a male escort.

The former singer of the group Culture Club appeared in court on Thursday (November 22) to begin the legal process of his alleged assault of Auden Karlsen of Norway.  Boy George is accused of chaining Karlsen to a bed and then using sexual toys on him.

Upon leaving the courthouse, Boy George made no comment to reporters.  Prosecutor Nicholas Paul asserted that the imprisonment took place at Boy George’s apartment last April 28.

Karlsen met Boy George on the Internet, and the two made arrangements for the singer to take pictures of Karlsen for $840.  Once at Boy George’s apartment, Karlsen says he was chained inside the home.  "I was convinced I was going to die," Karlsen told the Daily Mail of London earlier this year.

If found guilty, Boy George could face prison.  The hearing will begin in February.  Boy George also had problems with the law in 2005 for possession of drugs.
