Twice the fun at Coachella 2012

California music festival will span two weekends next year.

Next year, popular California music festival Coachella will span two weekends in April instead of just the usual three days, reports Gibson.

The same line-up will perform both weekends, giving fans a another chance to catch the acts. According to festival organizers, both weekends will be as similar as possible.

"In an effort to try and accommodate everyone who wants to experience the festival, Coachella 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends," explained the festival’s official website. "We will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people."

According to speculation, the change comes after organizers had great success this year scheduling The Big Four heavy metal concert series – featuring Metallica,, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax – on the weekend immediately following Coachella, which gave them the idea to build on the success of the current 3-day festival.

Coachella 2012 is scheduled to take place April 13 to 15, and 20 to 22, in Indio, California. Advance tickets are available this Friday (June 3), but will only be available until June 10.
