Twilight-inspired baby names

Isabella and Jacob are the most popular baby  names of 2009.

The Twilight films seem to be adding to the popularity of certain baby names. Jacob has been the most popular boy name for the past 11 years; there were 21,000 new little Jacobs born last year. 2009 was also the year of Isabella with 22,000 little girls given this name. Isabella and Jacob are the two main characters in the film franchise.

Jacob is followed in popularity by Ethan, Michael, Alexander and William while Emma, Olivia, Sophia and Ava come after Isabella.

Time magazine publishes a list established by the U.S. Social Security Administration. It indicates the most spectacular jump last year was the name Cullen. It moved 297 places to sit in 485th spot. Now the popularity of this name can almost certainly be attributed to the vampire series. Cullen is the last name of the popular vampire family.

Another Twilight name, Edward, jumped 11 places to sit in 137th place.

Mia went from 14th spot to sit in the Top 10 at number 10. On the boy’s side, Jayden moved from 11th to sit in the Top 10 at number eight. Noah moved from 15th place to rest in number nine spot.
