Kate Winslet is undoubtedly the big winner of the Golden Globe Awards event, which took place last night (January 11). The actress was twice awarded for her acting talents; one for best supporting actress in The Reader, and another for best actress in a dramatic film for her performance in Revolutionary Road.

Among other winners were Slumdog Millionaire, which won for best dramatic film of the year, and Danny Boyle who took the trophy home for best director.

Mickey Rourke earned a Golden Globe in the best actor category for his performance in The Wrestler.

As far as comedy is concerned, Vicky Cristina Barcelona was named the best film. The best actress award went to Sally Hawkins for Happy-Go-Lucky, while Colin Farrell won best actor for the film In Bruges.

Heath Ledger won for best supporting actor for The Dark Knight.

Wall-E was named best animated film of the year.

For television, the series 30 Rock was honoured as best comedy, while the two stars of the show, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, won the awards for best actor and best actress, respectively.

Often, the Golden Globes give a good indication of who will be mentioned at the Oscars.
