Two new Radiohead songs on the Web

Supercollider and The Butcher released in time for Record Store Day tomorrow.

In recent years, the third Saturday in April has been chosen as Record Store Day – a day organized by the independent stores where certain artists will offer exclusive, limited edition releases as an incentive for music lovers to reconnect with their local record store.

Radiohead’s contribution this year is a 12” vinyl single featuring two songs from their latest album The King of Limbs: Supercollider and The Butcher. Only 2,000 copies will be available to fans in the U.K., Europe and Japan. This morning (April 15), these songs debuted on the Web, but the quality isn’t great.

In a recent radio interview with BBC 6 Music Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien confirmed there will be no sequel to The King of Limbs.

“There are [other] songs that we have started, that we never finished, but there’s not like seven or eight finished songs waiting in the wings to be released now, or in the autumn, or something,” explained O’Brien.

“When we start a new record, we tend to start afresh. It’s kind of an evolutionary thing – only the fittest survive.”
