U2 in Montreal on July 16

U2 will be setting foot in Montreal.

After they gave their live YouTube concert performance last night, the Irish group has announced that Montreal will be added to their itinerary this summer; July 16 to be exact.

The last time U2 performed in Quebec was on November 25 and 28, 2009 at the Bell Centre during their Vertigo tour.

This time, U2 may have to give their show at the Olympic Stadium, due to their immense circulating stage that cannot be installed at Bell Centre.

U2 is set to arrive during the usual dates of Quebec’s Summer Festival, which could put a damper on hopes for Quebec City, although shows are already scheduled for July 12 in Philadelphia and July 19 in New York. It takes a minimum of 3 days between shows to take down and reconstruct the U2 360o stage.

Other Canadian dates for 2010 include a performance in Edmonton on June 23 and one in Toronto on July 3. The group will wrap up the first leg of the tour on Wednesday night in Vancouver (October 28).
