U2 in the Studio

The group U2 is in the studio in Dublin to finish their next album.

The band is surrounded by their long-standing collaborators, Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

Lanois told Billboard, "We’re going to try and break new sonic ground and deliver a masterpiece."

U2, Eno and Lanois spent some time working in Morocco and France. Lanois confirmed the results are prolific.  "There’s so much material," stated Lanois.

The band now needs to decide which tracks will appear on this album. It follows the album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, which came out in 2004.

U2 also recorded the single The Ballad of Ronnie Drew, and will give the profits to a charity helping cancer victims.  The single can be downloaded as of February 22.
