U2 Wraps Tour With a Blowout

The band U2 performed their final show of the Vertigo tour.

According to Billboard, the last concert took place in Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.  For the special occaision, the band invited other stars to share the stage with them, including Pearl Jam, Green Day and Billie Armstrong.

The show began with the song City of Blinding Lights, a single from the How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb album from 2004.  Bono also performed some of the older songs from U2.

Bono, 46, praised U2 guitarist Edge, saying that he has shown, "grace under pressure, faith and perseverance."  Although no formal announcement has ever been made, it is believed that an immediate member of Edge’s family had recently undergone treatment for a life-threatening illness.

Paul McGuiness, the band’s manager, declared that the next CD from the band will be released at the end of 2007.  The Vertigo tour earned nearly 377 million American dollars.
