Thurman fought regularly with her former spouse over the issue of motherly responsibilities, reports FemaleFirst.
The 37-year-old actress, who has two children with Hawke, was determined to have a career and a family. Hawke believed that was not possible. The two stars separated in 2003, and their divorce was final the following year.
"He claimed I couldn’t be a full-time mother and actress and I always insisted I could. But I couldn’t. I really try to give all of myself. I wouldn’t even read a script that wasn’t shooting in New York because I needed to be home," said
Thurman.
The beautiful actress, who is now dating banker Arpad Busson, continued to raise her 9-year-old daughter, Maya, and her six-year-old son, Roan, as well as have a successful career. Her next film, which she also produced, The Accidental Husband, will be released on August 15.
