Unseen photos of the Queen published

New rare and previously unseen photographs of Queen Elizabeth will be published for the first time in a new book marking her diamond jubilee.

A new book will publish never before seen photos of Queen Elizabeth.

‘Her Majesty’ celebrates the British monarch’s Diamond Jubilee this year with a collection of both official and intimate photographs taken over the years.

In one photo taken in 1957, the Queen is seen driving a car in Windsor, Berkshire, with a young Prince Charles in the front seat and Princess Anne sitting in the back. In another, she is seen care-free and laughing while travelling on a yacht.

The book’s editor, Reuel Golden, also uncovered several previously unpublished pictures for the £99 book.

One picture unearthed from 1966 shows the queen and her husband Prince Philip waving goodbye from the steps of an plane in the West Indies. It was found in an archived roll of film.

Reuel told The Observer newspaper: ”While there have been a few books on the subject this year, there’s never been anything quite like this book.

”The formal portraiture has to be an important part of the book. But we also wanted to convey the relentless travelling, the rituals of meeting and greeting, whether it be in Ghana, France or the US – especially, in the 1950s to 1960s, when she was perceived as a glamorous figure, who would draw huge crowds wherever she went.”

The book will feature pictures from world class photographers such as Sir Cecil Beaton and Annie Leibovitz.

‘Her Majesty’ will be released by publisher Taschen this week.
