Each year, balloons that invade the skies over St-Jean-sur-Richelieu at the International Hot Air Balloon Festival give visitors a reason to keep their eyes glued upward. This year, the music program put together by organizers will give you a good reason to keep your feet on the ground.
In 2010, the festival has decided to make people dance by inviting not one, but two international electronic and hip-hop stars. One of them is Edward Maya, with his catchy hit song. Stereo Love has sat at the top of Quebec charts for several months and does not seem ready to fly away.
Another artist who will undoubtedly get visitors up and dancing is Akon. This Senegalese rapper has the distinction of being the only singer to have placed songs in first and second position on the Billboard 100, not once but twice.
However, another point really stands out on this artist’s résumé. He is also a producer and owner of his own record label. It is Akon who gave Lady Gaga her first chance and signed the unknown star. He co-produced the diva’s debut album and also co-wrote her mega-hit Just Dance.
The International Hot Air Balloon Festival in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu takes place from August 14-22, 2010. A full program schedule will be unveiled on June 1.
