Van Halen finish recording new album

David Lee Roth back on vocals.

American hard rock band Van Halen has finished recording their new album and are starting to mix the tracks, their producer Ross Hogarth told Ultimate Classic Rock.

"The whole Van Halen record has been recorded and we’re all excited," said Hogarth. "I’m really stoked about it, as it is the original band, Eddie [Van Halen] and Alex [Van Halen] with Wolf [Van Halen] playing bass, and David Lee Roth singing."

The line-up isn’t quite the original, however, as Eddie’s son Wolfgang took over the bass from founding member Michael Anthony in 2006, but Hogarth is no doubt referencing Roth’s return to the band in 2007.

"It’s the killing side of Van Halen at the top of their game again with Diamond Dave, and the band on fire," added the producer.

The upcoming album does not yet have a release date, but rumors suggest it may come out in time for a world tour later this year. MelodicRock.com, a source close to the band, said the group would tour the U.S., Asia, South America and Europe beginning in November and running through into 2012.
