Vanessa Paradis for Chanel

Chanel releases images of its new Coco Cocoon ad campaign starring Vanessa Paradis.

Luxury fashion house Chanel unveils the first images of its new ad campaign for its Coco Cocoon handbag collection. Coco Perez reports the campaign stars Johnny Depp’s girl, Vanessa Paradis.

The French singer-actress-model has a long history with the company. She first posed in memorable 1992 ads for Coco perfume. She returned in 2003 as the face of the Cambon line of handbags. Most recently, she was named the face of Chanel’s Rouge Coco lipsticks.

Vanessa Paradis replaced British singer Lily Allen as the face of Coco Cocoon.

The updated handbag collection was created by Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel’s creative director shot the campaign himself in his Paris studio.

He commented on his ongoing collaboration with Paradis, saying: "I have often photographed her for magazines or advertising campaigns and each time it’s a pleasure. She really gives the impression that she is instantly on your level when you are working with her. People think she’s wonderful. She plays the game spontaneously, she is super natural."

As if those words of praise weren’t enough, Lagerfeld went on to add: "And above all, she creates harmony all around her. We have formed a real bond in our working relationship. She has been to my studio a number of times, and it’s as if she were coming to the house for dinner."
