Velvet Revolver courting new lead singer

American rock band has new frontman in mind, but won’t reveal identity just yet.

Hard rock band Velvet Revolver may have finally found a replacement for former lead singer Scott Weiland, reports Spinner Canada.

In an interview with Pulse of Radio, the group’s drummer, Matt Sorum, revealed that they have a new prospect in mind, though they won’t yet release the singer’s name.

"We can’t make the announcement yet, because we’re ‘dating,’" a tongue-in-cheek Sorum explained in his radio interview, "We haven’t consummated the relationship."

The band, made up of former members of Guns N’ Roses, has been without a lead singer since Scott Weiland left them to rejoin Stone Temple Pilots in 2008. Since then, guitarist Slash has come out with his own solo album, and bassist Duff McKagan joined forces with band Jane’s Addiction.

But now Velvet Revolver seems to be kicking the search back into gear. With no solid information, rumours have started to circulate as to who the new singer could be.

Myles Kenney of Alter Bridge is known to be a long-time collaborator of Slash, while Franky Perez from the band Scars on Broadway has been part of Slash’s live band and collaborated in the past with VR guitarist Dave Kushner. Meanwhile, Spacehog’s Royston Langdon is said to have previously auditioned.
