Vera Wang unveils affordable wedding gowns

American designer partners with David’s Bridal to create off-the-rack gowns.

American fashion designer Vera Wang is partnering with retailer David’s Bridal in order to provide affordable designer wedding gowns, reports People.

White by Vera Wang, the designer’s 12-style collection for David’s Bridal, will retail for around $600 to $1,400, making a designer Vera Wang wedding gown accessible to most brides-to-be for the first time.

"With two decades in the business, Vera Wang is the name in bridal, and our partnership creates a unique and exciting opportunity to bring the magic of her aesthetic to life for brides who have long dreamt of wearing a Vera Wang wedding gown," said David’s Bridal CEO Bob Huth in a statement.

The collection is currently available in 150 U.S. stores and orders can be placed at any location. The line will also be available at David’s Bridal’s new Canadian stores when they open in March 2011.

"This debut collection expresses my years of experience dressing brides from around the world. I’ve learned that a wedding dress represents more than just ‘a dress’. It embodies a bride’s lifelong dream and her own sense of who she is," Wang wrote on the company website.

"I am proud to be able to bring my designs to more women everywhere through the ‘White by Vera Wang’ collection."
