Versace’s Yellow Diamond sparkles

New fragrance launched in Europe this month.

Italian fashion house Versace has launched its latest fragrance for women, Yellow Diamond, reports Fragrantica, described as a light fruity and floral scent.

Versace started its crystal-inspired perfume line in 2004 with Crystal Noir, and then launched the lighter and fruitier Bright Crystal in 2006. Now, this year, the latest fragrance Yellow Diamond emerges as “crystal that turns into a diamond.”

Developed by perfumer Alberto Morillas of Firmenich, the floral-fruity-woody scent opens with notes of lemon, bergamot, neroli and pear sorbet. The heart features orange blossom, freesia, mimosa and water lily. The base is amber, musk and guaiac wood.

The bottle mirrors the crystal design of previous fragrances in the collection. The cap is brilliant yellow and baroque elements decorate the fanciful box.

After the September European launch, the scent is expected to debut in North America in January – just in time for Valentine’s Day. Versace Yellow Diamond is available as 50 and 90 ml eau de toilette, along with deodorant, shower gel, and body lotion.

The advertising campaign for Yellow Diamond features Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw photographed by Mario Testino in Paris.

The first Versace boutique was opened in 1978, and in 1994, the brand became a household name after widespread media coverage of the black Versace dress worn by British actress Elizabeth Hurley.
