Viagra for women is a failure

Viagra for women does not appear to meet the criteria for success.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States concludes that the original Viagra for women from the German laboratory Boehringer Ingelhein is a failure.

The lab wants to market a pink pill in the U.S. Its hopes now appear to be dashed although an advisory committee has not yet announced its decision. That decision comes tomorrow (June 18).

After two clinical trials, the FDA states that flibanserin does not significantly increase a woman’s sexual desire, even if participants who took the pill reported having slightly more satisfactory sex than women who received the placebo.

Flibanserin acts on serotonin, a molecule that affects mood. The FDA, however, noted an increase in side effects when taking this drug, including more depression and dizziness.

This Viagra would be aimed at premenopausal women with a lack of or diminished sexual desire.

Viagra for men has been available for ten years and has made thousands of people happy worldwide.
