Vincent Cassel seduces for YSL

Darren Aronofsky directs his Black Swan star.

Although Yves Saint Laurent is being sued by Louboutin for plagiarism, it’s business as usual with the unveiling of a new short film directed by Darren Aronofksy, reports Le Blog Luxe.

Aronosfky, best-known for Requiem for a Dream and his recent hit movie Black Swan starring Natalie Portman, has reteamed with Portman’s co-star Vincent Cassel for a new YSL short film based on Soren Kierkegaard’s The Seducer’s Diary.

The ad tracks the handsome French actor through a number of ‘seduction’ scenarios, and ends with Cassel’s voiceover, “Love thrives on coincidence, danger, and the forbidden.” A little-known career tidbit: Cassel usually does the voiceover for actor Hugh Grant in French versions.

In October 2008, L’Oréal signed Cassel to be the face of a new Yves Saint Laurent men’s fragrance. The new fragrance, La Nuit de l’Homme, was launched worldwide in March 2009.

In February, the YSL ad for the fragrance Opium Belle was banned by the Advertising Standards Agency after the agency had received numerous complaints that the actress Melanie Thierry appeared to be simulating drug use in the advertisement. Of course, Yves Saint Laurent disagreed with this decision.

Cassel is married to Italian actress Monica Belluci and they have two daughters, Deva and Léonie. His latest project, David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method, co-starring Viggo Mortensen and Michael Fassbender, tells the story of the intense relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud.
