Volcanoes are cool these days

Tourism specializing in tours of active volcanoes is all the rage these days.

Volcanoes may very well ground planes but they can also fill them. Since the Eyjafjöll volcano erupted in Iceland, attention and curiosity about volcanoes have significantly increased. Tourism specializing in visiting bubbling or steaming craters is now reaching new heights as thrill seekers want to get closer to these wonders of nature.

The tourism industry in Iceland was given a real boost when Eyjafjöll erupted. Charter airline Iceland Express says its business has risen by 20% since the eruption, and the Icelandic Tourist Board says 26,000 overseas visitors travelled to the country in March.

Companies like Go Magma, Volcano Discovery and Aventure & Volcans are now being asked to go to Eyjafjöl. The amazing photographs circulating about the recent eruption are only helping promote this adventure tourism industry.

However, according to the latest reports on the Eyjafjöll volcano, we may be hearing more about volcanoes and air traffic disruptions in the future.
