The film follows the life of painter Francisco Goya in 1792 Spain. Just following the Spanish Inquisition, Goya’s teenage muse is accused of heresy and sent to prison.
Portman is joined in the cast by Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard and Randy Quaid. Milos Forman directed the film.
