The film stars Ben Whishaw, Alan Rickman, Rachel Hurd-Wood and Dustin Hoffman. Inspired by the book by Patrick Suskind, the movie recounts how the obsessions of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille turn to murder when he searches for the scent of a young virgin. The story takes place in 18th century Paris.
