Anderson will receive a special award at the event in Stockholm in recognition of the humouristic side and twisted characters that have been created in his films.
In a statement, festival organizers said of the director of the films The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, among others, "He has created unique and stylized universes inhabited by characters searching for something to search for. Through his visionary filmmaking, Anderson has given a modern face to the classic autor."
The award will be given to Anderson during a special ceremony at the festival, which will take place from November 15 through November 25.
