According to the Chicago Tribune, it is already proving difficult to find tickets for the 2010 Lollapalooza Festival. People have been scooping them up since learning that The Strokes will headline the festival.
Singer Julian Casablancas confirmed his band will be performing during the festival that takes place from August 6-8 in Chicago’s Grant Park.
The last Strokes album, First Impressions of Earth, came out in 2006. Casablancas says the fans’ long wait will soon be over; they plan to release a new album in September.
He said, "I’ve written a lot of melodies for it, but the other guys have also contributed a lot more: melodies, choruses, parts. It’s way more collaborative. So it’ll have a different feel than our other albums."
Julian Casablancas is currently on tour promoting his first solo album, Phrases For The Young. It wraps up at the end of April.
The Strokes also confirmed some summer festival dates, including Scotland’s RockNess and the Isle of Wight Festival.
