Whitney Port’s kaleidoscopic imagination

Whitney Port’s latest 2012 collection is inspired by an old kaleidoscope she found at her grandmother’s house.

Whitney Port’s latest collection is inspired by a kaleidoscope.

The former ‘Hills’ star was at her grandmother’s home when she found the children’s toy by chance, and its bright colours and myriad shapes reminded her of patterns she could use for her next Whitney Eve collection.

She told People.com: ”I was looking at it, and was inspired by the prints and colours. But it’s also based on what kind of girl I feel like I’ve grown to be the past couple years.”

Whitney’s latest collection will be shown at New York Fashion Week today (15.02.12) and she admits she has had to work hard for it to come to fruition as she only found out it would be showing in January.

She added: ”I started organising this maybe a month and a half ago. The collection that I was doing was already being done, because obviously I’d do it anyway, but we decided pretty last minute we wanted to be part of Fashion Week.”

Whitney will also be on hand at the show, to help pick out the looks and styling of the models at the event.

She added: ”I’m waiting to see what the looks are like for the show. I don’t want to take anything from the show, so I’ll pick up the pieces and put something together.”

Whitney admits she is ”pretty nervous,” but has the support of her family backstage, adding: ”My parents are here, my sister and my brother are here, another sister’s coming. They’re here to support.”
