Top honours went to Angelina Jolie. A survey of the magazine’s readers named the Beowulf star as the sexiest because of her, "pneumatic figure, feline eyes and lips that could have been stung by several hives of bees".
Natalie Portman came in close at the second spot for her sexy, shaved-head performance in the film V for Vendetta, and also for her seductive dancing in the film Closer.
For the men, Daniel Craig, who starred as the new James Bond in the film Casino Royale, topped the list.
Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt and Gerald Butler also were named in the top ten sexiest men. Matt Damon, who took the number one spot in a similar survey by People magazine, ranked 17th in the Esquire poll.
