According to E! News, Heroes star Hayden Panettiere auditioned to play the role of Ariel Moore in the remake of Footloose.
She already sang on soundtracks before, and released the single Wake Up Call last year. Her singing talents impressed director Kenny Ortega.
Julianne Hough, a dancer on Dancing With the Stars, also auditioned for the same part.
If Panettiere gets the role, she would be starring opposite Chace Crawford, who also became interested in joining the project after Zac Efron quit. Crawford has not yet signed a contract.
