Prince William and Duchess Catherine have been criticized for renovations to their Norfolk home.
The royal couple are in the midst of major construction work to Amner Hall, their second home located on Queen Elizabeth’s 20,000-square-foot Sandringham Estate, including replacing the old roof with bright red tiles, but local residents are not pleased with their color of choice.
One disgruntled neighbor told HELLO! magazine: ”The building dates back to the early 1800s but it looks more like a Barratt home now. It’s not an eyesore but it does look completely different.”
Barratt is a popular residential manufacturer in the United Kingdom known for its red-tile roofs. The company’s homes are considered affordable and certainly aren’t as grand as the prestigious Amner Hall.
William and Catherine began renovating the mansion in September to provide greater comfort and security following the birth of their son, Prince George, in July.
As part of the renovations, builders will install more trees to block views from passers-by and the couple will also have access to an exclusive gate to access their home that is being built just for them.
