William Hurt To Star in The River Why

William Hurt has joined the cast of the film The River Why.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor William Hurt (The Incredible Hulk) will star in the drama The River Why.  The film begins shooting in Oregon in July.

Amber Heard (You Are Here) and Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights, The Last Winter) will also star in the movie.

The River Why is an adaptation of a novel by David James Duncan.  The title is a metaphor to illustrate man’s eternal search for self-knowledge.  The film follows the life of a fisherman named Gus Orviston (Gilford), who wants to catch the elusive rainbow trout.

Gus is also in love with Amber Heard’s character, a tomboy who loves to fly-fish.

The film will be directed by Matt Leutwyler (Road Kill, Unearthed).

After The Incredible Hulk, William Hurt will next be seen in the historic drama The Countess.  He is currently shooting the film Endgame, which will be released in 2010.
