Womeswear Designer of the Year = Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs wins the Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the CFDA Fashion Awards.

Marc Jacobs won the International Award in 2009. This year, the American designer was named Womenswear Designer of the Year at the 2010 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) gala.

The 2010 Fashion Awards took place yesterday (June 7) at Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York City.

Considered to be the Oscars of the fashion world, this evening paid tribute to many of the biggest names in fashion. Winners included Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey who succeeded Jacobs by taking home the International Award this year.

Sarah Jessica Parker presented a posthumous award to Alexander McQueen to highlight his body of work and contribution to fashion. The late designer took his own life on February 11. He was awarded the Board of Directors’ Special Tribute Award.

-International Award: Christopher Bailey
-Fashion Icon Award: Iman
-Board of Directors’ Special Tribute Award: Alexander McQueen
