The Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) is an association which represents the Hollywood screenwriters. It attempted to clarify their position after a press release by Jorge Camara, President of the Foreign Press in Hollywood, mentioned that the WGA consented to the screenwriter’s writing scripts for the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Alan Rosenberg, President of the SAG expressed that they are determined to protect the rights of the screenwriters despite the fact that the Golden Globes are an important event. "The WGA has great respect and admiration for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, but we are engaged in a crucial struggle that will protect our income and intellectual property rights for generations to come. We will continue to do everything in our power to bring industry negotiations to a fair conclusion."

The WGA intends on picketing at the event, and is counting on the support of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), which defends the actors.

The position of the WGA may compromise the Golden Globes, which are on January 13. There are many actors and actresses such as Katherine Heigl, star of Grey’s Anatomy, who will boycot the event.
