Yabba-dabba-doooo!

The Flintstones is voted most memorable theme song in cartoon history.

The Flintstones celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and now there is one more reason to celebrate. Its theme song was voted the most memorable tune in cartoon history.

A poll of 2,000 adults in the UK found The Flintstones‘ theme song was the most recognizable of any children’s program. The poll was conducted by PRS for Music. This is the United Kingdom association of composers, songwriters and music publishers.

Other cartoon theme songs that made it onto the top five in this poll include: 2. Top Cat, 3. Postman Pat, 4. Scooby Doo and 5. The Wombles.

The Flintstones was written by Hoyt Curtin, Joseph Barbera and William Hanna. The show features the stone-age family of Fred and Wilma Flintstone, their daughter Pebbles and Dino, their pet dinosaur that barks like a dog. The show revolved around the family’s daily life and their friends, Barney, Betty and Bamm Bamm Rubble.
