YSL signs unknown for perfume campaign

French beauty Marine Vacth is a rising star.

French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent has chosen little-known French beauty Marine Vacth as the newest face to represent an as-yet-unnamed fragrance, reports Vogue.

“We are very happy to welcome Marine Vacth as a new ambassador,” said Nathalie Duran, at Yves Saint Laurent Parfums. “Recognizing emerging talent has always been part of the spirit of Yves Saint Laurent.”

“Marine charmed us with her grace and sparkling presence, as well as her determined and audacious personality.”

Vacth has already made an appearance in YSL’s new short film by Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky for men’s fragrance La Nuit de l’Homme starring Black Swan actor Vincent Cassel.

Based on Soren Kierkegaard’s The Seducer’s Diary, and the ad tracks the handsome French actor through a number of ‘seduction’ scenarios – his first target is Vacth whom he woos at a private music recital – and ends with the Frenchman’s accented English voiceover, “Love thrives on coincidence, danger, and the forbidden.”

The 21-year-old model recently made her acting debut in March this year in a French film by Cédric Klapisch called Ma part du gâteau (My share of the pie). Her performance was well-received by the critics, and she is reportedly awaiting the start date of her next full-length feature film, in which she will take the lead role.

Her YSL fragrance campaign is expected to debut in September.
