Last night, Michel Bergeron set the web ablaze by saying that the Senators should hire Patrick Roy behind the bench .
We know how much some fans would like to see the former CH glory make a return to the NHL as a coach, even if the principal interested party mentioned that this could be his last season behind the bench of the Quebec Remparts.
In my mind, it seems unlikely for this particular reason… But I find it hard to believe that Roy would turn down such an opportunity.
This morning, it was Yvon Pedneault’s turn to say out loud that he’d like to see him land in Ontario to manage the Sens.
Yvon believes it would be perfect, given that the Senators have several very talented young players and that Roy is good at working with young players because of his QMJHL experience.
I think that more and more, Patrick Roy knows the new generation of field hockey players very, very well. – Yvon Pedneault
According to Yvon Pedneault, Patrick Roy would be a perfect candidate to lead the @Ottawa Senators, and Bob Hartley, the @NYRangers.

If you listen to the segment above, you’ll understand that Yvon Pedneault’s appearance wasn’t just about Patrick Roy. He was accompanied by Bob Hartley…
And Yvon seems to have taken the opportunity to throw flowers at the former NHL coach. Like Patrick Roy in Ottawa, the TVA Sports analyst feels that Bob Hartley would be the perfect candidate in New York.
He argues that the Rangers have a number of “temperamental veterans” and that Bob is “capable of putting the shack in order”… Which is not to say that he isn’t right. Bob Hartley is a coach with character, and he’s proven himself in the past by winning just about everywhere he’s been.
Both cases would be particularly interesting in that Hartley and Roy haven’t coached in the NHL for some time now. But before they make an official comeback…
The Rangers would have to start by firing Gerard Gallant. And, in Ottawa, DJ Smith would have to lose his job, which isn’t guaranteed either.
But it hasn’t happened yet.
