Zara Phillips won’t start a family yet

Zara Phillips has revealed she doesn’t want to yield to public pressure to have children and has confessed she doesn’t understand the fuss over Princess Beatrice’s royal wedding hat.

Britain’s Zara Phillips doesn’t plan on having children just yet.

The 31-year-old royal – who is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth – has been married to her husband Mike Tindall since 2011, but is choosing to ignore the constant pressure from the media to expand their family.

She told Australian Vogue magazine: ”When you’ve been together for so long, it’s ‘When are you getting married?’ And as soon as you’re married, ‘When are you having babies?’ Ha ha, I think everyone gets that.”

The Olympic silver medalist also discussed the controversy Princess Beatrice’s eye-catching hat caused at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s royal wedding in April 2011, and believes the Philip Treacy creation served its artistic purpose as well as subsequently raising money for a good cause when it was auctioned off on ebay.

She said: ”Everyone went nuts about it, didn’t they? It was such a great hat. It was a creation, and that’s what hats are; they are artwork! It made a good amount for charity afterwards though.”

Eventing champion Zara admitted that royal outings are the perfect excuse to don a lavish hat and she would never attend a social occasion without a spectacular headpiece.

She revealed: ”I love hats; I love putting hats on. They are artwork. You can always go out and find a dress to wear for some occasion but there are not that many occasions you can wear a hat.”
