The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Zoe Saldana is in talks with Luc Besson’s production company, EuropaCorp, to star in the drama Columbiana.
The actress has already had starring roles in Star Trek and, more recently, in Avatar. She would play a young woman out for revenge. Her parents were murdered when she was a child. She grows up to become a ruthless killer.
By day, she works as a paid assassin for her uncle. She spends the rest of her time killing criminals, hoping one day to find her parents’ murderer. The action takes place in Latin America and the United States.
Shooting starts this summer. Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3) will direct. Besson co-wrote the script with Robert Mark Kamen (The Fifth Element).
Zoe Saldana can next be seen in the action film Takers out on August 20. It also stars Paul Walker, Matt Dillon, Idris Elba and Hayden Christensen.
