The world’s best airport bar is in Zurich, Switzerland, according to the inaugural ceremony of the Airport Food and Beverage Awards held in London, England, Wednesday night (January 26).
Lining the panoramic glass wall of Zurich Airport’s departure lounge, The Center Bar beat out heavyweight contenders such as Harry’s Bar at Singapore’s Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur’s Saji Bumi, Satay Club.
According to the judges, the Center Bar is "an integral and stunning attraction to the airport itself, a bar in which panoramic views and stunning chic design made drinking here an absolute pleasure, enhancing the whole travel experience."
Perfect Day, a coffee and sandwich outlet at Frankfurt Airport, took home the prize in the non-alcoholic category, while Le Grand Comptoir in Houston was named best food-led cafe bar/restaurant.
Frankfurt Airport also earned a second mention for Kaefers Bistro, which was named best full service restaurant.
The Airport Food and Beverage Awards were presented by the Moodie Report, a global publication for the travel retail industry.
